On March 16, 2024, by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, Mr. Piamsak Milintachinda, Vice President for International Relations, Chulabhorn Research Institute, presided over the opening ceremony of the Project on Integrated Training for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabies to Communities, at Navela Hotel, Mueang Ratchaburi District, Ratchaburi Province. The objective was to exchange academic knowledge and practical experience through various activities such as lectures to provide academic knowledge and workshops on the use of applications to prevent rabies in schools and communities. These activities also encompassed learning promotion activities with three knowledge bases, namely 1) demonstrations of first aid for bites, scratches, and wounds licked by infected dogs; 2) knowledge transfer on rabies using a game-based Q&A competition; 3) legal knowledge on the prevention and control of rabies through the use of IT system EDURA, which would greatly benefit the personnel potential development within the network of the participants of the Training Project this time. On February 2, 2024, Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn graciously presided over the opening ceremony of “Thailand Inventors’ Day 2024” organized by the National Research Council of Thailand, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation at Bangkok International Trade & Centre, Bangna, Bangkok. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness bestowed awards to the recipients of the National Research Awards 2024, comprising the National Outstanding Researcher Awards, Research Work Awards, Dissertation Awards, and Invention Awards, totaling 178 awards. On January 25, 2024, Mr. Bancha Techasakul, Vice President for Special Activities, Chulabhorn Research Institute, accompanied by Mr. Piboon Tivakornpanarai, Director of the Office of Special Activities, and a delegation conducted a site visit to follow up on the progress of the “Royal Initiative Project on the Research and Development of Industrial Scale Orchids” at Mae Hia Agricultural Training and Research Center, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. Mr. Phongsak Puttatum, the Project’s official reported smooth progress of the Project in various areas. Through the benevolence of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, and in addition to her commitment to the well-being of the Thai people in various aspects, Her Royal Highness also takes great interest in the development of veterinary science to promote the healthcare of animals so that they do not suffer from serious diseases especially rabies, which constitutes a major public health problem in the country. Her Royal Highness continuously dedicates all her efforts to supporting the government sector in addressing such problems, as demonstrated for instance by her royal duties performed with HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s Veterinary Volunteer Unit in Chaiyaphum, Lop Buri, and Phetchabun Provinces between January 27-30, 2024. Upon arrival in each province, Her Royal Highness donated 500 doses of rabies vaccines to the livestock officials in each province to boost the animals’ immunity against the disease. This proactive measure upgraded surveillance and prevention of rabies. The donation will be used to purchase veterinary tools and equipment in mobile operating units to support the operation of HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”. Chulabhorn Research Institute Certified as Research/Development Agency The Chulabhorn Research Institute was certified for laboratory standards in compliance with the OECD Principles of GLP from the Bureau of Laboratory Quality Standards, Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health, on October 25, 2023. As a testing agency for product safety in compliance with the OECD Principles of GLP, the Chulabhorn Research Institute will contribute to upgrading testing standards for product safety to be on par with international standards. This will enhance confidence in products and improve the potential of Thai entrepreneurs for higher competitiveness in production and export. The Chulaborn Research Institute provides safety testing services within its scope, including pharmaceuticals, herbal medicine, dietary supplements, and functional foods.
