By Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), Mr. Bancha Techasakul, Vice President for Special Activities of the CRI, Presented the Royally-Granted Essential Supplies to Aid Flood Victims in Yala and Narathiwat Provinces On Friday January 12, 2024 at 11.30 a.m.
On January 12, 2024 at 11.30 a.m., acting under the Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), Mr. Bancha Techasakul, Vice President for Special Activities of the CRI, presided over the ceremony at the 4th Development Division, Rattanapol Military Camp, Khlong Hoi Khong District, Songkhla Province, to present the Royally-granted items, which included consumer essentials such as jasmine rice, canned food, instant noodles, towels, common household medicines, and 2,000 sets of face masks, 1,000 sets each, to Chief Petty Officer Second Class Anan Bunsamran, Vice Governor of Yala Province, and Mr. Sangkom Kerdkor, Deputy Governor of Narathiwat Province, for onward transmission to flood victims in the regions of Yala and Narathiwat Provinces. The primary goal was to uplift the spirits and alleviate the immediate suffering of those affected by the floods at the initial stage. HRH’s benevolence brought immeasurable joy and gratitude to the flood-affected communities.
From December 22-31, 2023, the provinces of Yala and Narathiwat experienced flooding influenced by the northeastern monsoon. Strong winds covered the Gulf of Thailand, the southern region, the Andaman Sea, and the southern east coast. Thunderstorms occurred in many areas, with heavy to very heavy rain prevailing. In Yala Province, 7 districts were affected, excluding Betong District, totaling 52 sub-districts. This impacted 21,185 households, resulting in 4 fatalities. As for Narathiwat Province, 13 districts and 77 sub-districts were affected, with 91,085 households suffering and 14 fatalities.
