On May 20, 2023, by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), Mr. Chalermpol Thanchitt, Vice President for International Relations of the CRI, presided over the opening ceremony of the Project on Integrated Training for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabies to Communities, under HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”. The event was held at Classic Kameo Hotel, Nernpra Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, Rayong Province. The activities of the Training Project comprised academic lectures and a workshop on using applications of the IT system to prevent rabies in schools and communities, fostering exchange of learning, and networking to expand future cooperation among agencies related to the prevention of rabies. On March 24, 2023 at 08:27 a.m., Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol performed Royal Duties with the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit under HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”, at Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Tippimarn, in Pongtalong Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Her Royal Highness’s compassion extends to sick animals, ensuring they receive treatment and relief from suffering, which reduces their death rate from serious diseases, as well as eases the burden on pet owners. On this occasion, Her Royal Highness administered anesthesia to five dogs to ensure that they did not experience pain during sterilization procedures, including Her Royal Highness’s own pet, a dog named Khun Komane, which underwent surgery on a lump on its tail, a resident’s pet dog that had surgery on its right hip bone, and three dogs from the “Nakhon Chai Burin” shelter for homeless dogs, each undergoing surgery to remove lumps on the left breast, right chest, and head, respectively. On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 3.00 p.m., in the Mueang Ratchaburi District Office Meeting Hall, Ratchaburi Province, by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the CRI, Mr. Bancha Techasakul, Vice President for Special Activities of the CRI, presented 2,000 Royally-Granted blankets to Mr. Udom Petchkut, Deputy Governor of Ratchaburi Province, along with 10 District Chiefs, representing Mueang, Wat Phleng, Pak Tho, Bang Phae, Photharam, Chom Bueng, Ban Pong, Damnoen Saduak, Ban Kha, and Suan Phueng Districts. On January 24, 2023 at 09.46 a.m., in the Meeting Room 1 at the Chulabhorn Research Institute Convention Center, Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), presided over the meeting to follow up on the progress of Thailand’s Initiative in Genomics and Expression Research for Liver Cancer (TIGER-LC) in 2023.  The meeting, held from January 24-25, 2023, aimed to explore ways to support people suffering from liver and bile duct cancer in high-risk areas and to address public health issues in Thailand.  The meeting was attended by researchers and experts from the CRI, Chulabhorn Hospital, National Cancer Institute-NCI, USA, National Cancer Institute-Thailand, Chiang Mai University, and Khon Kaen University. During the meeting, the research team from the National Cancer Institute-NCI, USA reported on the use of technologies to study liver and bile duct cancer at the molecular level, focusing on classifying patient groups to improve treatment accuracy.  They also discussed research on cancer treatment using targeted therapy related to cell degradation process, studies on metabolite, the role of microbiome in cancer development, as well as liver cancer prevention in communities by reducing exposure to risk factors in daily life. Attention has been drawn to recent reports circulated widely on social media and online news outlets concerning a Thai scholar who allegedly purchased research works and had them published in academic journals. The case may have led the public to mistakenly believe that the individual in question is affiliated with the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI). The CRI would like to clarify that the scholar mentioned was neither a researcher nor an employee of the CRI. Furthermore, the CRI had no involvement in the publication of the research works in question. The CRI totally disapproves any practice involving the purchase of authorship for the sole purpose of gaining credit in a published work. Such actions constitute a blatant violation of disciplines and ethical standards in the research circle. The Chulabhorn Research Institute has always adhered to the researcher ethics and practices, as set forth by the National Research Council of Thailand, with strict ethics in conducting research and disseminating research findings at the international level. This clarification is issued to provide accurate information to the public and prevent any misunderstanding that could potentially harm the CRI’s reputation and tarnish its esteemed image.
