On August 24, 2024 at Kaewsamui Resort, Surat Thani Province, by Royal Command of Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), Lieutenant Chawat Arthayukti, Vice President for International Relations of the CRI, presided over the opening ceremony of the Training Project for Knowledge Dissemination and Technology Transfer on the Management of Rabie to Communities, under the strategy of the operation of HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”. The Project aims to promote network engagement in the operation, surveillance, prevention, and control of rabies, as well as systematic and efficient management of animal population in communities. The training was conducted in collaboration between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Education, Kasetsart University, as well as other relevant agencies, to develop and establish a network to prevent and control rabies in communities through various learning promotion activities, such as academic lectures, a workshop on using applications, demonstrations of first aid procedures, knowledge transfer on rabies using a Q&A game, as well as knowledge on legal provisions related to the prevention and control of rabies. Dr. Kwanrawee Sirikanchana, Research Scientist II, Laboratory of Biotechnology, has contributed to the United Nations Public Service Award (UNPSA) 2024 Winning Initiatives in the category of Innovation in Public Institutions for her innovation, “Academic Insight into Action for Pandemic Response.” Thailand Team received this prestigious recognition at the United Nations Public Service Forum and Awards Ceremony, held from June 24–26, 2024, in South Korea. Dr. Yotsawat Pomyen, Research Scientist I, Translational Research Center, Chulabhorn Research Institute, has been awarded the Thai Visiting Scholar (TVS) Fellowship by the Thailand-United States Educational Foundation (Fulbright Thailand) for his research project, “Spatial Biology of Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma.” This six-month fellowship is scheduled to take place from September 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025 at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA. Dr. Kwanrawee Sirikanchana, Research Scientist II at the Laboratory of Biotechnology, Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI), attended a meeting on the study and analysis of the risk of antimicrobial resistance in hospital wastewater treatment system impacting people’s health, organized by the Bureau of Environmental Health, Department of Health, on June 12, 2024. The study findings constituted part of academic services projects provided by the Laboratory of Biotechnology of the CRI. During the meeting, a representative from the Bureau of Environmental Health, gave a lecture on “Research project to evaluate the readiness of the public health sector in developing the prototype of the management of antimicrobial resistance in hospital wastewater treatment system”. Moreover, Asst. Prof. Dr. Thammanitchpol Denpetkul, lecturer from the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, and co-researcher of the Laboratory of Biotechnology’s academic service project, gave a lecture on the study findings of the project titled “Study and analysis of the risk of antimicrobial resistance in hospital wastewater treatment system impacting people’s health”. On August 9, 2024 in the Meeting Room, 1st Floor, Chemistry Research Building, the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI) held a ceremony to mark the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother’s 92nd Birthday Anniversary, which falls on August 12, 2024. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, Vice President for Administration, Building and Grounds of the CRI and Chairperson of the ceremony, led other CRI executives and employees to humbly offer their well wishes and sign a book of blessings. This was done to express their loyalty and gratitude in recognition of Her Majesty’s tireless commitments to mitigate suffering and promote happiness of the Thai people. On July 26, 2024 at 8.45 a.m., the Chulabhorn Research Institute (CRI) held a ceremony at the CRI’s Chemistry Research Building to honor His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary which falls on July 28, 2024. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chusak Limsakul, Vice President for Administration, Building and Grounds, presided over the ceremony, accompanied by CRI executives and personnel. With visionary leadership aimed at addressing health and hygiene issues involving the Thai people, Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute, acknowledges the serious impact of various critical diseases on the people’s quality of life and livelihood. Among these is rabies, a life-threatening zoonotic disease that requires vigilant monitoring, prevention, and control to ensure the safety of all citizens across the country. In response to this, Her Royal Highness graciously dispatched the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit to the Bangkok Metropolitan Region from July 15-18, 2024, stationing at Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Triamudomsuksa Pattanakarn Nonthaburi School, and Pathumthani Vocational Education College. Her Royal Highness performed Royal Duties in the field, closely monitoring the operations and offering moral support to all personnel concerned and volunteers. With the strong commitment to eradicating rabies from Thailand, Her Royal Highness distributed rabies vaccines for further administration across target groups of animals in various areas to enhance the efficiency of the prevention and control of rabies across the Bangkok Metropolitan Region.
