Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol Performs Royal Duties with the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit at Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Tippimarn in Nakhon Ratchasima Province
On March 24, 2023 at 08:27 a.m., Professor Dr. Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol
performed Royal Duties with the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit under HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s
project on “Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”, at Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Tippimarn, in Pongtalong Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Her Royal Highness’s compassion extends to sick animals, ensuring they receive treatment and relief from suffering, which reduces their death rate from serious diseases, as well as eases the burden on pet owners.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness administered anesthesia to five dogs to ensure that they did not
experience pain during sterilization procedures, including Her Royal Highness’s own pet, a dog named Khun Komane, which underwent surgery on a lump on its tail, a resident’s pet dog that had surgery on its right hip bone, and three dogs from the “Nakhon Chai Burin” shelter for homeless dogs, each undergoing surgery to
remove lumps on the left breast, right chest, and head, respectively. Throughout the procedures, Her Royal Highness maintained anesthesia conditions and closely monitored vital signs to assess and ensure safety. All procedures were conducted with Her Royal Highness’s utmost competence and expertise in veterinary
anesthesia. Moreover, Her Royal Highness directed the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit to perform
sterilization on 12 more dogs.
With visionary leadership, Her Royal Highness recognizes the serious issues posed by the spread of
rabies, the health of pets living closely with humans, and the need for sick homeless animals to have access to treatment across the board, which would in turn contribute to the improvement of the overall quality of life for the people. Her Royal Highness graciously funded the construction of Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Tippimarn, within the compound of the Tippimarn Palace, under the supervision of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kasetsart University. It is Her Royal Highness’s intention for the Hospital to be a quality veterinary facility of international standards, upgrading the ability to treat and rehabilitate animals. It is staffed by a team of veterinarians with knowledge and expertise and is equipped with modern medical tools and equipment. The Hospital also serves as a center for study and research on veterinary medicine, as well as a base for the Chulabhorn Veterinary Volunteer Unit to support HRH Princess Chulabhorn’s project on
“Disease-free Animals, Safe Humans from Rabies”.
At present, Kasetsart University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Tippimarn in Nakhon Ratchasima Province provides a range of services for animals, including general medicine, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic surgery, emergency care, treatment of pets from other areas, inpatient and intensive care services, rehabilitation
clinics, as well as sterilization and rabies vaccination. The Hospital is open every day from 8:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 08:30-11:00 a.m.
